Yimkhiung community in Mokokchung celebrated the Metümnyo Festival at the YBCM Compound on August 8.
Mokokchung, August 8 (MExN): The Yimkhiung community in Mokokchung celebrated the Metümnyo Festival on Saturday at the YBCM Compound, showcasing their rich cultural heritage and reaffirming communal unity.
The event was organised by the Yimkhiung Union Mokokchung (YUM). A key highlight of the celebration was an insightful session on the significance of Metümnyo, delivered by Kiumukam Yimkhiung, which underscored the festival’s traditional and social importance.
The cultural programme featured a folk song presentation by the Yimkhiung Students Union Mokokchung, followed by a traditional folk dance performed by Yimkhiung Perü Mokokchung. The festive spirit was further enlivened with a variety of indigenous games that drew enthusiastic participation from the community.
Earlier, Shahoto, President of YUM, delivered the welcome address. Metümnyo greetings were extended by Y Among Yimchunger and L. John Yimkhiung. The vote of thanks was proposed by Y Kiuji, General Secretary of YUM.
