Longleng, March 25 (MExN): The Department of Political Science, Yingli College Longleng organised the outreach awareness programme on March 23 at the Oushok Village Ground on the theme “Value of Right to Vote in the Democracy.”
Welcoming the gathering, Village Council Chairman Oushok village Chailong Phom, said that the theme very relevant and it would have an impact upon he villagers.
He also suggested the students to work hard and increase the level of knowledge to serve the Phom Community, informed the State DIPR.
Vice Principal Dr B Henshet Phom, meanwhile, noted that Yingli College secured NAAC B+ grade due to many such co-curricular activities organised in and around the nearby village of the district.
He said that though there are some loopholes in the democracy but it is the best form of government at present.
Further he suggested the eligible voters should be vigilant and to know the value of right to vote.
The Vice Principal also appreciated the Council members for allowing the usage of the public ground for the programme.
Dr Mahabir Jha, Head of Department Political Science also noted that the aim of such programme is to sensitise students to the needs of society and their role in the community, state and nation building.
This is a kind of exchange programme which involves social planning, awareness about rights and duties, health support, several social welfare projects, he said.
The value of right to vote in the democracy is a kind of awareness programme which helps to sensitise the people about their political rights and duties, he added.
“We must use our franchise to elect the right and honest person who assures us about the development in our society,” Dr Jha urged.
