Students of Yingli College visited the Yaongyimchem Alayong Sanglu Biodiversity Conservation Area on April 22.

DIMAPUR, APRIL 23 (MExN): The Department of Environmental Sciences, Yingli College went on a field trip to Yaongyimchem Alayong Sanglu Biodiversity Conservation Area on April 22. 

A total of fifty-two final year students, four faculty members and six team members from Lemsachenlok Society were a part of the educational visit. Culturally significant places visited were Peyong and Molong (significance in oral tradition), and Teshilepjen (a departing place of the spirits). 

Renowned environmentalist, Nuklu apprised the students on the importance of collective effort in preserving nature. The conservation site is world renowned with students from nearby districts, WII Dehradun and the US visiting for interning and research. The Amur falcon roosting sites were seen from Namba watch tower with binoculars, courtesy of Lemsachenlok society and the vibrant sounds of barking deer, owls and other wildlife could be heard in the evening.

The field visit also coincided with Earth-day and the subject in charge encouraged the students to participate in knowledge generation and documentation of the rich heritage of their land.
