Yitachu graces Phoyisha cultural festival

Our Correspondent Hutsii | January 6   A four day long 21st session of Phoyisha cultural festival kicked start here today with Minister for School Education & SCERT Yitachu as the chief guest.   Hutsii under Meluri sub division of Phek district lies 235 km away from state capital Kohima. “Our culture is our identity,” said Yitachu while addressing the gathering and asked the Pochury community to maintain it.   He also stressed on the need to hold cultural activities to promote and revive the rich cultural heritage.   Yitachu also stated that for any developmental activities to take place power is required.

  Stating that there is potentialities to develop power, he called upon the people to cooperate with government and allow power generation to take place “if we are to progress.”   Earlier, the function was chaired by Phoyisha Cultural Organization (PCO) chairman S. Pfithu while welcome address was delivered by Hutsii village council chairman Tupin Vaching.   Altogether, 7 villages out of 10 villages under PCO are taking part in the festival. They will compete in dance, Te-telo-te-te and archery throughout four days.   Several dignitaries including Pochury Hoho president Penthu Pochury also graced the inaugural function. Home commissioner Neihu C. Thur wil grace the valedictory function on January 7.
