YMCA Dimapur organises tree plantation event

Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) Movement, the Nagaland Chapter organised a tree plantation event at Thahekhu village, Dimapur on June 7.

Dimapur, June 8 (MExN): In commemoration of the 180 years of the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) Movement, the Nagaland Chapter of YMCA organised a tree plantation event at Thahekhu village, Dimapur on June 7.

During the event, the members of YMCA Dimapur, Nagaland planted tree saplings in and around Thahekhu Village which was led by the YMCA Nagaland President, Dr Andrew Ahoto Sema.

“The Young Men's Christian Association was founded in London, England, on June 6, 1844 by Sir George Williams who was an English philanthropist and businessman. The organization is based in Geneva, Switzerland and has more than 64 million members across 120 countries,” Media Cell, YMCA Dimapur, Nagaland stated in a press release. 

Since its inception, YMCA has grown rapidly, ultimately becoming a worldwide movement. Local YMCAs deliver projects and services focused on youth development through a wide variety of youth activities, including providing athletic facilities, holding classes for a wide variety of skills, promoting Christianity, and humanitarian work, the release added.
