Dimapur: In continuation to protest against the construction of Dikhu hydro project, the village council of five villages of Yongnyah area held a meeting on February 10 and resolved to oppose the said project.
The villages, Yongnyah, Nyan (Nian), Yongam, Yongshei and Tangha including Chingong and Shemshangching in a press note, “reminded the government of Nagaland, department of power and M/S Manu Energy System Pvt Ltd to see the public grievances and stop the work immediately.”
Yongnyah Area Public convener Hamyong Phom in the press release said that the meeting reviewed the representations, memorandums and ultimatum submitted to the government opposing the construction of Dikhu Hydro project and deliberated at length.
During the meeting, the house accepted the resignation of former convener Longjieh Phom and replaced him by Hamyong Phom as convener and all chairman of village council of the area as executive committee members.
