Many young legislators will be joining the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly, and it remains to be seen whether such infusion of young blood will enable more effective role in the politics and the state of affairs.

The new ‘young’ members are less than the age of 45, and many such candidates have been successful during the election.

Many are joining the assembly for the first time while others are two-time veterans.

Among the second group are N. Jacob Zhimomi (38), P. Paiwang Konyak (40), Mmhonlumo Kikon (39) and H. Tovihoto Ayemi (39) from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), while former Independent candidate Toyang Chang (39) got reelected with NPF ticket this year.

Zale Neikha (NDPP) who won the 15 Southern Angami II Assembly Constituency seat is 41.

Imnatiba of National People’s Party, who beat two-time NPF legislator and Minister Nuklotoshi from Arkakong A/C, is 38 years, according to his nomination papers.

Independent candidate Tongpang Ozukum who emerged victorious after a tough 5-way contest from Angetyongpang A/C is just 37.

Another BJP candidate Temjen Imna Along, who beat former Minister Dr. Benjongliba of NPF, is also just 37 years of age.
