Wokha, June 2 (MExN): Training cum consultative meet on agricultural marketing in Wokha district organized by ATMA was held on June 2 at DPDB hall.
Wezope Kenye, DC and Chairman GB speaking as special invitee encouraged the young entrepreneurs to take up agricultural marketing as a profession as a long term sustenance and advised them to tie up with agri and allied departments to fulfill this. While drawing comparison with Phek which also produces good quantity of vegetables, the DC said that Wokha is being more blessed as it produces better and tastier vegetables and fruits.
While lauding ATMA, Agri and KVK for timely intervening in agricultural marketing in the district advised the farmers to take good use of the initiatives. He also encouraged the farmers to grow dragon fruit in the district which is now in high demand in Nagaland and also profitable.
Dr. Mhonchan Shitiri PD while delivering the keynote address said that the main agendum of the meet is an attempt to regulate agricultural marketing in the district which otherwise is un-regulated. For which as gap filler a marketing vehicle is being purchased with the initiative of Deputy Commissioner, DAO, PD & KVK with funding under district innovative fund.
Peter DAO in his short speech said that there are problems and constrains in agricultural marketing in the district but has to be overcome it through organized system of marketing and encouraged the farmers to take up marketing by ourselves for upliftment of our economy.
Dr. B L Mhalo SMS KVK spoke on recent trends and practices in agricultural marketing and emphasized on group marketing for better income and profitability.
The programme ended with consultation and commitment to improve agricultural marketing in the district. Earlier, the programme was chaired by Chichamo BTM and vote of thanks pronounced by Mhonroni ATM.
