Medziphema, August 4 (DIPR): Women and Child Welfare Centre, Dimapur in collaboration with Legislators Forum for AIDS Nagaland has organized a daylong programme on Advocacy for community ownership of HIV/AIDS with stakeholders of Ghaspani-II A/C at Town Hall Medziphema on August 4.
The function was graced by MLA 5th Ghaspani-II A/C, K. Hollohon as the Chief Guest. In his speech the Chief Guest urged the gathering to be alert and extend their co-operation to the organizers who were organizing this kind of programme for the welfare of the society. According to Hollohon many of the youngsters were infected with the dreaded disease HIV and AIDS due to their carelessness.
Lamenting over the less turn out at the meeting, he appealed the gathering mostly comprising of church leaders, GBs, elders and officers to give their interest to this kind of programme, which will bring a positive changes in the society.
ADC Medziphema, S. Doungel in his welcome address thanked the MLA for his presence and the resource person for their presence at the programme. State coordinator UNAIDS-LFA, Dr. Vinito Chishi speaking on the concept of the advocacy meeting highlighted the formation of Legislator Forum for AIDS and its role in fighting against the dreaded disease. HIV/AIDS and its scenario in Nagaland and action plan to prevent HIV/AIDS was presented by District ICTC Supervisor, NSACS, Nitoshe.
