One youth was arrested in Zunheboto for allegedly firing at a government car attached to the forest department. The unidentified youth, believed to be in his early 20s, was taken into custody by the Zunheboto police in the evening on January 25.
His alleged crime occurred on January 24 at around 7:30 pm.
The youth fired at a Mahindra Bolero parked inside the office compound of the Divisional Forest Officer, Zunheboto. The weapon was a 12-gauge bore gun.
The motive behind the act was still unclear but as per police sources, it was an act of frustration under the influence of alcohol.
He was said to have unsuccessfully appeared a job recruitment test, recently. While he assumed the vehicle belonged to the DFO, it turned out to be the Assistant Conservator of Forest’s vehicle. The sources said that investigation was on.
