Meluri, September 1 (MExN): A youth football match was organized at the Local Ground, Meluri on August 30 to commemorate the 11th Inception Day of the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).
Deputy Commissioner of Meluri, K Mhathung Tsanglao, who graced the occasion as the special guest, lauded NHIDCL for its role in improving road connectivity to interior parts of the country, including Meluri district. He encouraged the participants to give their best efforts for the final match.
Four schools took part in the event — Christian Mission Higher Secondary School, Meluri; S Pethury School, Meluri; St Xavier Higher Secondary School, Meluri; and Government Higher Secondary School, Meluri.
The final match was played between Government Higher Secondary School and Christian Mission Higher Secondary School, with the former securing a 5-0 victory. The winners received a trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 10,000, while the runners-up were awarded Rs 5,000. Each participating team was also given Rs 3,000. Akoru Thupitor from Government Higher Secondary School, Meluri was adjudged the best player of the tournament.
