AN ORGANIZATION called the ‘Youth Net’ founded by a group of visionary youths was formally launched today at Hotel Japfu, Kohima. ‘Youth Net’ a non-profit organization aims at being a platform for knowledge and initiative by actively participating and involving youths in various spheres of societal existence.
The organization, feels that the time has now come for the youths to change tracks and hopes that by 2015 it would groom Naga youths within its capacity to be the conduits for bringing about a positive change in the Naga society.
Alemtemshi Jamir, Agriculture Production Commissioner and Principal Secretary who is also one of the Executive Trustees of the ‘Youth Net’ said that with the dynamicity of growth in all spheres across the world, the time had come for only the fittest to survive and a high time for the society to have a modern outlook to be at par with the rest of the world. He said that the organization would stand as a platform to be filtered by the rest.
“Globalization is at its peak and for a global village like ours with the need for growth, networking is very important in order to survive as the time has come to such a stage where we have only two choices.’ Either survive or perish’” he said. He also appealed to the Government of Nagaland to provide assistance in its vast capacity by acknowledging the need of the hour.
Khekiho Zhimomi, Minister of Industry & Commerce, speaking on the occasion as the chief guest applauded the organization for its noble venture and termed it as a good beginning for a noble cause.
While calling upon the members to be fully dedicated, he also reminded that howsoever noble the objective of any organization is, it cannot be successful if it fails to attract the society with its good performance for which the members are responsible. He also expressed hope that the organization would be a tool in providing the right direction to the society which, he said, was the need of the hour.
Earlier in the program, the welcome address was delivered by M Angelica Chishi, a prayer of blessing was said by Botoholi Achumi, Associate Pastor, Sema Baptist Church, while the inaugural speech was delivered by Hekani Zakhalu, Youthnet. The vote of thanks was proposed by Theja Meru.
It may be mentioned that the central members of the organization are Allen Phom, Anato Zhimomi, M Angelica Chishi, Kuchi Zeliang, Limaakum Jamir, Theja Meru and Hekani Jakhalu while the Board of Trustees comprises of BJ Panda, Alemtemshi Jamir, Hukato Naga and Baichung Bhutia.
