The Youth Recreational Hall at Pfüchama village under Kohima district constructed with grants under Article 275(1) of Indian Constitution under Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India and sanctioned during 2018-19 at Rs 200.00 lakh was inaugurated on December 10.
The hall aims to give opportunity to the youth – a chance of hope for the “under privilege youth to reach to mainstreams of the society in the field of creativity of recreation base on the customary laws of the Angami Nagas.”
It also aims at given privilege to the youth to explore their talents, promoting cooperation for solving problems of economy, social or humanitarian character which has to passionate long for identity, dignity and freedom.
It is designed as common platform for human resource development and community loving people living in perfect harmony with each other by way of entertainment and to perform their skills of sports, arts and indigenous games etc.
Another aim is to facilitate accommodation to those in need who cannot afford for proper housing for livelihood.
The Hall is attached with kitchen cum dinning and dormitory to open way for the youth to have direct contact with the tourists. The concept is also aimed at catering the need of the tourists especially during Hornbill festival of Nagaland as Pfüchama lies around 12.50 km away from state capital Kohima.
Inaugurating the Hall, Nagaland’s Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, Minister Neiba Kronu expressed satisfaction over the completion of such project for the benefit of the community. Stating that the project was sanctioned when he held the portfolio of tribal affairs earlier, he said the same was made possible with the interest and concern shown by Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio. The Minister told the villagers that the government would also see that the villagers get better road condition as well as more tourism related amenities.
Advisor Higher Education and Election, Government of Nagaland, Medo Yhokha was also present at the function.
