PATKAI, MAY 11 (MExN): A one-day hands-on training on basic life saving skills was organised by Youth Red Cross, Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) on May 10.
Dr Saotakum Chang, Medical Officer, CHC, Longkhim, Tuensang District as resource person on the day demonstrated various CPR techniques, Abdominal thrust to help from choking, procedures to handle accident fractures, immediate measures applied on victims of drowning and strokes.
He also deliberated at length on various do’s and dont’s of various life saving skills. Dr Chang also lauded the members of the Red Cross stating that it is a voluntary and a humanitarian service aimed at giving back to the society.
He also reiterated that the students as members of Red Cross should be active in providing first aid at all times while also encouraging them to participate in more trainings. He further outlined the necessary steps involved in carrying out the basic life saving skills.
Dr Premkumar Singh, Dean of Science, while welcoming the resource person urged the students to make the best use of the training. Dr Bendangsenla, faculty member of Red Cross gave the vote of thanks.
