Dimapur: After reaching out to more than 1000 youth through seminars, workshops, one to one and social networking sites, Youngs' Club along with Youth for Change, a voluntary youth group under Youngs’ club, and Peace Channel reached out to youth leaders from Dimapur colonies for the workshop “The Youth Space - My Space, My Unmanifesto campaign” - a campaign led by the youth of the country to create a one of its kind crowd sourced and youth powered manifesto on March 5, 2014.
A press release from Youngs’ Club informed that Unmanifesto campaign creates spaces for young people to raise their voice, highlight their rights, their decision to bring changes in the society through collecting promises/manifesto which will later be handed over to different political parties.
The primary supporter and partner of the campaign is UNFPA and initiated by Community - The Youth Collective (CYC) Delhi, Youth ki Awaaz, Pravah, Bosco institute along with over 40 civil society organizations. In Nagaland, Youngs' Club is taking the initiative of the campaign along with support from Youthnet, Naga Blog and Peace Channel.
The release added, the campaign brings out the voice of the youth from diverse and marginalized sections of population and creates learning and leadership around the democratic and political process.
The March 5 campaign was held at Rotary Club Hall along with youth leaders from Midland colony, Forest colony, PWD and Supply colony. Levi V Sumi from Peace Channel, Jenpu Rongmei and Chumben Merry from Youngs’ Club spoke during the workshop. The workshop had group activity and group presentation on the role of politicians and role of youth to bring positive changes in the society.
The big event will be held in the middle of this month, the release noted. 1000 youth will be invited and collected promises/manifesto of the youth will be presented to the political leaders, witnessed by UNFPA representatives, CYC.
