Dimapur, September 21 (MExN): Youth Support Group, an initiative of Can Youth to provide platform for livelihood and entrepreneurship especially to dropouts, youths and returnees who have returned leaving their job due to the COVID-19 pandemic, was launched on September 21. 

A press release from Can Youth informed that the launching programme was graced by General Manager, District Industries Centre, P Tokugha Achumi, members of three youth support group, Chief Functionary of Can Youth Jenpu Rongmei, Marnungla Tzudir, Accountant Can Youth and  Faihamti Longmailai Project Cordinator.

While launching the initiative, Achumi stated that one should support ourselves and not depend on others, as it is our duty to be self dependent in fulfilling one’s own dreams. He mentioned that Nagaland is the state which has its highest rate of unemployment and the root cause of the situation is that we always tend to start big rather than starting from a scratch. “The drawbacks thus lie in us among Nagas of not being able to gather the nature of patience and make room for growth and development.” He stated that the nature of business should always be precise and take smaller steps at a right time which can be easily accessible.

 Jenpu Rongmei in his speech shared the purpose of Youth Support Group which is to understand the meaning dignity of Labour and empower themselves by involving oneself in different activities, also support in their income generation through sustainability of their work.

Can Youth has provided seed money supported by YI Youth Fellowship to all the three Youth Support Group i.e. Chümoukedima, Darogajan village and Ao Kong Colony.

Youth Support Group will continue in the other part of district to promote the meaning of livelihood and entrepreneurship.
