Zunheboto, April 18 (DIPR): RTI Seminar cum Workshop was held on April 18 at Cultural Hall Zunheboto under the theme ‘Youth for Transparency’. The programme was organized by the Youth Net and co-organised Zunheboto Range Student Union.
The Team Director Youth Net, Hekani Jakhalu while speaking on the occasion said that Youth Net is an unprofitable organization with a mission to help the organization and to help the youth to acquire knowledge, develop life skills and form attitudes to enable them to become self-directory, positive, productive and responsible. She further said that Youth Net works in partnership with the government, community residence, grass-root organization, educational institutions, co-operation and finance offices in all aspects of development while actively engaging youths in the process.
The Board Member, Youth Net and Advocate Lydia Yeptho while briefing a gist to RTI said that three things a man cannot do without is death, breathing and tax which we pay to the government and the government utilize the money that a public paid as tax. She therefore informed that the government has given the right and provision through RTI to every citizen of India, the right to seek information as our Fundamental Right which covers the whole government departments from grass-root level right up to the President Office except Jammu and Kashmir. The RTI Act also covers NGOs that use government money. The team also conducted on how to go about seeking information using the right RTI Act has provided.
The programme was carried out by Lydia Yeptho and Joshua Sheqhi Board members, Youth Net. The programme was conducted in a simple manner through dialogue understandable to all. The organising team also included Sentinaro Lonchar, Board Member, Youth Net, Principal Olympic School Zunheboto, Hovishe Achumi and Sukhato Rotokha representing Concerned Citizen Zunheboto also spoke on the occasion. All NGOs, public leaders and school contingents under Zunheboto district participated in the seminar. Welcome address was given by President ZRSU and the programme was chaired by Hekani Jakhalu, Director Youth Net.
