DIMAPUR, MAY 22 (MExN): YouthNet founder and Nari Shakti Presidential awardee, Hekani Jakhalu announced Rs 10 lakh towards construction of a Youth Resource Centre in the Padumpukhuri village council office area. She announced this during the 32nd anniversary of Padumpukhuri Village Council held on May 20. 

She stressed that human resource development was the most critical factor for the growth of Nagaland, adding that even if the state achieves state of the art infrastructure, it would also require people with the right skill set
Jakhalu meanwhile lauded the Padumpukhuri Village Council Chairman, Aheto Yeputhomi and the Council Team and village elders for their vision in sending out a strong message of ‘unity’ which is the need of the hour for Nagaland. 

She encouraged the youth that the only way ahead was to hard work and to be determined to reach their dreams and visions. She said that the young people needs to be prepared to face the tough competitive world ahead, highlighting that as per the census of 2011, people between 15-35 age group comprised approximately 8 lakh population, which is a huge number in the decision making process to impact the future. 

She said that YouthNet has impacted more than 1.2 lakh youth in the State and has developed presence pan Northeast in the past 16 years. The Youth Resource Centre, she said, was mark of commitment to the Naga youth. 

The centre would give support to the youth of Padumpukhuri-East Dimapur areas as the information centre and finding the way ahead, helping the youth in need of opportunities, as at times parents or youth do not know where to approach. 

She also announced that the ‘Made in Nagaland’ centre which was already operational in Kohima has also been proposed in Purana Bazaar area and survey is in process. She said that the centre would enable entrepreneurs to showcase their products and promote talented youth. She further stated that road connectivity was critical for any venture to be successful and proposed the council to identify critical connecting roads, in which attempts would be made to improve it. 

The special guest was accompanied by Toluvi Village Council Chairman, Bohoshe Awomi; Delhi based Manav Dhingra who has been supporting YouthNet for the past 13 years in skill development and job placements; former NSF President Ninoto Awomi; a host of young emerging leaders under Dimapur district and entrepreneurs nurtured by YouthNet who are excelling in their fields in the private sector.
