Kohima, March 11 (MExN): A certification ceremony for the participants of three solar awareness programmes concluded on March 8 at YouthNet, Nagaland. The programme, sponsored by Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Government of India, was conducted under the aegis of National Institute of Solar Energy and Department of New & Renewable Energy, Nagaland.
The programme has been designed specifically for eight North-Eastern states to spread awareness about renewable energy sources at the grassroots level.
YouthNet conducted a programme each on Mini and Micro Grids, Remote Village Electrification and Off Grid Solar Technologies from January 16 to 25 and trained more than 100 candidates. Along with different renewable energy technologies, trainees were introduced to various schemes of central as well as state government. In order to promote Renewable Entrepreneurship in the state emphasis was given on various Entrepreneurship Skills required for an entrepreneur.
A press release stated that all the participants were introduced to Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana as an option of finance. The next phase is the Surya Mitra training- a three months training on Solar.
The Department of New & Renewable Energy, Nagaland has been encouraging youths and also pushing for new programmes in Solar for Nagaland, the press release added.
