Prof M Alemla, Dean, School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development (SASRD), today said that the youths of today are full of talent and potential and referred to them as ‘assets of our society’. She was speaking as the guest of honour on the first graduation ceremony of Mount Mary College, Chumukedima, held at Joyce Complex Hall, Chumukedima. Altogether, 74 students graduated in Arts and Commerce.
Congratulating the graduating students, Prof Alemla advised them to be bold as they go through a crucial phase. Ruing the rampant corruption in today’s society, the guest of honour encouraged the graduating students to bring changes in our society. Further, she encouraged students to use the abundant information available for their own gain, and all the same time, warned against its misuse. Prof Alemla further urged the graduating students to bring laurels to the institution and make the institution proud.
The guest of honour gave away awards to outstanding students. Further, certificates were presented to the graduating students by the Chairman of the college, Dr M Chuba Ao.
Earlier, Rev. Manen, Pastor, NPBCC, said the invocation for the program, while the Vice Principal of the College, Onen, delivered the welcome address. Lanumongba, one of the graduating students, gave a valedictory speech. Meanwhile, Visako, Assistant Professor, exhorted the graduating students on their responsibility, warning them that the road ahead would not be easy. At the same time, Visako encouraged the students saying that the struggles which they go through would act as pillars in their life. Neikuolie Khezhie, a member of the male voice group – Zowe Madrigal, presented a melodious rendition of the inspirational song ‘Walk On’ during the program.
