Kohima, June 14 (MExN): The Yimchungrü Students’ Union Kohima (YSUK) on Saturday held cultural and literary day on the theme ‘Exploring your identity’ at Jubilee Memorial Centre, Lerie here.
Addressing the gathering as the speaker, Secretary Legal Cell & DAC Member BJP Nagaland, H. Mukam challenged the Union to mould up the younger generation’s thoughts towards exploring one’s identity and taking it forward.
He also encouraged the young people to uphold the good traditional values and cultural practices while also making use of the traditional wears and also the folklores, which will ultimately move towards preserving one’s identity.
Exhorting the students to be hard working, Mukam stated that every successful person has had to go through hard time to be an achiever.
PS to Naiba Konyak Advisor for Geology & Mining, NBDA & NePED, Ngamlao Konyak also appreciated YSUK for organising such event. He highlighted the brotherly relation between the Konyaks and Yimchungers as well as the migration of Tobu area people from Langa.
He emphasized on the need for students from Eastern Nagaland areas to strive hard towards achieving success through merit instead of always depending on backward quota.
Calling upon the youngsters to be role model for the society, he said a hardworking youth is one of the biggest achievements for any community.
Folk dance, songs and display of modern Yimchungrü wear marked the inaugural session while various literary competitions including debate on the topic ‘role of youth in present Yimchungrü imbroglio’, Essay, Art and Quiz were also held.
