DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 10 (MExN): The Yimchunger Tribal Council (YTC) today submitted a representation to the Nagaland State Commissioner, demanding immediate action against the culprits involved in various recent crimes in Shamator and Kiphire, and also condemning the “apathetic and lenient attitude of law enforcing agencies.”
The YTC informed that “ever since the news about the proposed YAA Golden Jubilee to be held at Shamator ADC Hq was heard, handful of criminals began to take advantages sadistically by means of involving unabatedly in disturbing the public peace and tranquility…”
It cited various incidents of miscreants planting explosives and firing at civilians and government/police officials over the recent months. “The law enforcing agency, despite having a primary knowledge about all these provoking incidents, remains apathy much to the dismay of the public,” it stated.
The YTC expressed shock at the February 6 killing of a couple in Shamator and informed that the wife, an “active Executive Member of Yimchunger Tribal Council from Shamator Village, and her husband were returning from Shamator Village after visiting their parents.”
“The action of the same culprits in terrorising and ambushing the innocent public is augmenting unabated and the law enforcing agencies should leave no stone unturned to arrest the culprits for stern action instead of remaining lethargic,” the YTC demanded.
The YTC said that these acts to create serious law and order situation and the “apathetic and lenient attitude of the law enforcing agencies,” have “facilitated the situation to turn from bad to worse.”
It cautioned that in the event of further apathy or negligence on the part of the law enforcing agencies in immediately arresting the culprits involved in the above stated incident, the YTC “shall have no option other than to initiate its own course of action and for which it should not be held responsible for any consequences.” It further felt aggrieved by the “emotional and the rampant act of the public of Kiphire Town in ransacking the buildings and properties…” stating that lives were put at stake by the “ghastly action of the mob.”
The YTC slammed the law enforcing agencies for failing to protect the properties and security of the innocent lives by failing to intervene timely. “The abettors, false reporters, and persons forming part of the mob with an intention to destruct the properties and for murdering the innocent public should be arrested immediately for befitting action,” it demanded.
