YTC responds to USLB claims on Pungro

Dimapur, August 20 (MExN): The Yimchungru Tribal Council (YTC) responded to a press release issued by United Sangtam Likhum Bumji (USLB) on August 20, 2010 in local dailies, regarding the claim/ownership of Pungro. Contrary to the invitation by Pungro Area Public Forum/GBs Union to USLB/group/community on August 24, 2010 in Pungro Town, USLB expressed dismay and stated that the booklet/order of 1953 and so on ‘is a new shoot.’

M. Thsesong, president, YTC through the rejoinder stated “the Nagas (any tribe) during headhunting, the warriors dominated the land/village(s). Accordingly, the Yimchungru of Pungro Area has overruled and killed the mighty Sekhalu Sumi around 1918 (who forcefully established a village at Pungro Range) where the dead body of Sekhalu lies at Pungro Village before government exist or orders as claimed by USLB.” “Therefore, Pungren Village should immediately shift to their own land as the Pungren is owned and dominated by the head/blood of the Yimchungru or Pungro Area and if witness is so required, the son and grandsons of Sekhalu can justify on it rather inviting by USLB on Yimchungrus” further stated the note.
