Pungro, June 17 (MExN): Yimchungru Tribals Union Kiphire Town (YTUK) and Yimchungru Students’ Union Kiphire Town (YSUK) were dissolved at a programme held at Council Town Hall, Pungro on June 17. The two unions were merged with Yimchunger Tribal Council (YTC) and Yimchunger Akherü Arihako respectively.
Speaking at the programme, C. Neoji, YTUK President, stated that different tribes co-existed with peace and harmony since the inception of Kiphire district, according to a press release from YTUK officials. However, some inhuman acts had forced the Yimchungru people to vacate Kiphire town, leaving no choice to settle back due to rampant destruction of houses and properties without valid reason. This compelled the dissolution of the two unions, he added.
Meanwhile, YTC Executive Chairman, Shelumthong said that the “evil power” overtook in the Kiphire incident. Therefore, he appealed to the public to conquer evil with good. However, he asked not to seek revenge stating it only brings hatred and enmity. Further, he urged not to be saddened by the dissolution of the unions, but strengthen with unity for the cause of the society.
Musumong, GBs Union President extended warm welcome to the displaced families, while stating that Pungro is a home for every Yimchungru.
Kiusumew, President, Pungro Public Forum lauded the sacrifices made by the displaced Yimchungru for peace to prevail in Pungro and Kiphire.
