Kohima, August 19 (MExN): ATMA Jakhama Block, Kohima inaugurated “Zabo” Farm School at Jakhama Village on August 16 under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY). According to a press release, the main objective of the school is to expand cultivable area under assured irrigation and to improve on farm water use efficiency through arresting runoff water during monsoon season. Farm owner Khüsezo from Jakhama village was appointed as the Farm School Teacher. Vimenuo Mere BTM, ATMA Jakhama Block explained the concept of farm school while discussions for improvement of the initiative taken up by the farmers were also held. A Farmer Interested Group (FIG) was also launched by ATMA Jakhama Block under PMKSY where the group was given the name “Khadipfü”. The group consists of 10 young men hailing from Jakhama. The main objective is to practice integrated farming through effective management of runoff water and improve soil and moisture conservation by contour system of farming.
