Zarü water project not functioning regularly: Zhimomi

PHED Minister Jacob Zhimomi today informed that the Zarü Water Project is not functioning regularly at present due to extensive damage to the Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) at the 1st stage pumping station.

Replying to an unstarred question raised by MLA Kevipodi Sophie at the second session of 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) here, Zhimomi informed that the Water supply project - augmentation of water supply to Kohima town (Zarü Project) by double stage pumping for water supply in Kohima town, was commissioned on March 26, 2021. The total cost of the project stands at Rs. 46.74 crore.

On being asked if any amount is left for maintenance, the Minister informed that maintenance fund is not provided within approved cost of the project. The department has to meet the operation and maintenance expenditure under the annual Non- Development (Non- Plan) fund, Zhimomi informed.
