ZB (AMN) resolves to restrict bandhs in Zeliangrong areas

Imphal, March 15 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Baudi, Assam, Manipur & Nagaland has, in a meeting, resolved to limit and restrict the number of bandhs and strikes in Zeliangrong inhabited areas along the Imphal-Jiri Road, the National Highway, national, international projects: railway construction and others.

According to a press release from ZB (AMN) General Secretary, Dr. Gairiangmei Maringmei, the meeting was convened after series of consultations and discussions across the frontal organizations of Zeliangrong community, the Zeliangrong Baudi, Assam, Manipur & Nagaland (ZB AMN) on March 14 at Zeliangrong Baudi Office, Tarung, Imphal.   The decision was adopted and resolved unanimously as Resolution No. 1, the release informed while stating that frequent bandhs and strikes have greatly affected daily wage earners, labourers, small business, entrepreneurs, and common people of Tamenglong District.   Cautioning all concerned not to take laws in their own hand, the ZB (AMN) also appealed to all leaders of the concerned members of Zeliangrong community to understand the issues. Bandhs or strikes should not be used as the first resort to draw the attention of the government but should be used as the last resort when all other means of democratic agitations are exhausted, the Baudi stated.   Any association and group attempting to impede the developmental works of the district will be considered as against the progress and development and will be termed as anti-Zeliangrong, the Baudi warned.   If any association/organization is compelled to call bandh/strike, it must take the confidence of the Zeliangrong apex organization and all frontal organisations of Zeliangrong people, the Zeliangrong Baudi maintained.
