Zeliangrong Baudi allege abuse by NSCN/GPRN cadres

Dimapur, November 10 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) today expressed anger at the NSCN (Isak-Muivah) group for allegedly torturing ‘men, women and children’ on November 8 in a sub-division in Manipur. The Zeliangrong baudi has demanded explanations for the alleged crime.
NSCN (IM) cadress took men, women and children hostage in Soubunglong  (Leishok) village, Nungba sub-division under Tamenglong district in Manipur and tortured them mercilessly ‘for reasons best known to them,’ the Zeliangrong Baudi said in a press release today.
For the past many years, the organziation has been very vocal in denouncing  arbitrary actions of the Indian armed forces meted out to Nagas, the civil organziation said. “It is unfortunate and regretful to see that similar actions are happening within our society by our own brothers in arms,” the organziation said in its press release. The press release was issued through The organziation’s president Raitu Chawang and general secretary K Elu.    “The detention and torturing of the Village Authority Chairman, Secretary and six other members is totally uncalled for.
It deserve condemnation from every right thinking citizen.  Whatever the reasons may be, resorting to such kind of barbaric actions cannot be tolerated and no amount of words can justify such inhuman acts,” the organziation said.
The ruthless behaviour and actions of the undeground activists only demean “its government” and only shows to the world how “inefficent our leaders are to manage its own affairs,” the Zeliangrong baudi said.
The ‘baudi’ has demanded repsonse form the undeground group: “The torturing of our innocent public does not in anyway bringforth good result, rather it widens the gap between the people and our National government. The Baudi demands public explainations from the NSCN/GPRN authority for the reasons that led to the incident. Further, appeal to the government to immidiately stop all kinds of activitis that theatens the peacefull atmosphere in Zeliangrong region.”
