Zeliangrong CSOs oppose Pan Naga Hoho

Dimapur, February 23 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) and its frontal organizations Zeliangrong Pui Baudi, Zeliangrong Youth Front and All Zeliangrong Students Union, has rejected “the demand of NSCN (IM) for Pan Naga Hoho during the Indo Naga Peace Talk/process.”

The organizations, under the banner Zeliangrong Civil Organisations (ZCOs), also demanded extension of the provision of Article 371 (A) of the Indian Constitution to all the Naga inhabited areas of North East India.

In a press release received on Sunday, the ZCOs claimed that the “powerless and illogical Pan Naga Hoho” has been “one of the causes for confusion among people/Naga community and further delaying the 23 years long Indo-Naga Peace Talk/negotiation.” It also accused the NSCN (IM) of trying to “split the Naga family particularly the Zeliangrong community.”

The ZCOs stood in support of “the decision of the 14 Naga tribes in Nagaland rejecting the Pan Naga Hoho while welcoming to the genuine demand of the Working Group (WG) of Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) for extension of Article 371(A) in all Naga areas.” The Zeliangrong Civil Organizations extend appreciation and co-operation in the matter, the press release stated.

It observed that the prolonged Indo-Naga Peace process has been obstructing peace and development in the region and therefore, urged the Government of India and the stakeholders to urgently, “bring an amicable solution, which is acceptable and workable for both the Nagas and India so that permanent peace and tranquility prevail once and for all in the region.”
