Zeliangrongs serve memo to Swu, Muivah

Dimapur, Sept 3 (MExN): The Zeliangrong community has demanded from the NSCN-IM Collective Leadership, the resignation of its kilo Kilonser and “home secretary” and convener of its steering committee. This demand was made in a memorandum to the faction in the wake of the razing of 30 houses in Jalukie Zangdi recently. The memorandum also demanded immediate withdrawal of NSCN-IM chairman Isak Chishi Swu’s acknowledgement letter to Shikavi village where land for the outfit’s GHQ is mentioned wrongly as donated by Shikavi village.

Zeliangrong civil society led by the Zeliangrong Baudi and the AZSU in the memorandum addressed to Swu and General Secretary Th Muivah demanded the immediate termination of “kilo Kilonser,”  “home secretary” and Convener of Steering Committee. These people are responsible for playing a deliberate and partisan role by using their position to carry out an agenda of threat and subjugation that is not part of the “national cause,” on the Zeliangrong people, it stated. Zeliangrong civil society informed the NSCN-IM that the ball is now in the court of the outfit.

The memo mentioned the razing of the houses and the statement of “home secretary” that the affected area belongs to the “Kacharis” and “mias.” If such statements could be disclaimed and defended easily by the NSCN-IM, how could the people be blamed for failing to have faith in what the outfit “say,” it queried. The desire of the “home secretary” to establish right of ownership in Manglumukh, whose community has established villages in the like of Shikavi village and Daniel village, where “mias” live are clear intentions, the memorandum stated.

Further, mentioning the acknowledgement to Shikavi village covered by the GHQ, the memorandum stated this reveals why a particular community is desperate to claim traditional rights of land ownership of a Zeliangrong village. “The traditional boundaries must be honored, respected and maintained; if not regarded, the very platform and foundations on which Naga nationalism stands will have no relevance” the Zeliangrong community cautioned.

The NSCN-IM labeling the Zeliangrong community as “illegal encroachers, forceful occupation and illicit land-grabbers” was also sternly objected to. It reminded the outfit that the Nagas are aware of the actual situation as to who is guilty of these allegations, it asserted. The memorandum also, while stating that the Zeliangrongs’ magnanimity has been taken as weakness and exploited, cautioned the NSCN-IM that beyond a certain point of endurance, the Zeliangrongs would be compelled to ‘seek its own survival.”

“Is this how we have been rewarded for our hospitality in giving refuge, for providing land for Hebron Camp, GHQ and Demolition Training Camp?” the memo queried.
