The Zeme Students’ Union, Nagaland (ZSUN) has pointed out sub-standard road work in a segment of the Maikham-Jalukie (Peren) road. The ZSUN told The Morung Express today that portions of the road, which were recently tarred, were coming off bringing into question the quality of work.

According to ZSUN, it made the observation during a tour of the ongoing NABARD-funded Maikham-Jalukie road (17km) improvement project on November 19.

The segment where the anomaly was noticed was located near Maikham village, it said. While stating that freshly carpeted road coming off within days, only points to poor quality control, the president of the union said that remedial work should be initiated and that the PWD should ensure that the work is done as per the specified quality specification.

Queried if it has brought the attention of the department, he responded that the official in-charge of the Division has been informed.

According to the ZSUN, it will update on the remedial steps taken by the Department in the coming days, meanwhile, it will be making a tour of other roads in Peren district improvement works are on, currently.
