Kohima, July 8 (MExN): The Zhadima Village Council (ZVC) on Wednesday expressed dissent at the issue of Inner Line Permit (ILP) and movement permit to some workers from the red zones into the village “without following 14 days institutional quarantine and 14 days home quarantine and other SOPs.”
According to the press release issued by the ZVC, the workers were from Techno Electric & Engineering Co. Ltd. working at Zhadima Village.
The 400/220 Kv GIS substation by Techno Electric & Engineering Co.Ltd and 220/132 Kv substation operated by Kalpataru Power Transmissin Ltd & Shyam Power India Ltd are two companies setting up huge power project under Zhadima Village jurisdiction.
While stating that it understands the workload and time bound project, the ZVC maintained that, “this is not a time to flunk norms and protocols.”
The Council said that bringing in workers from the red zones has threatened the ‘social security and safety’.
“…If the lives of our village people are threatened we will not hesitate to retaliate in any form,” it warned.
It further said that the Government should take all risks and responsibility if the help of such workers are required or follow all basic quarantine protocols and SOPs “instead of following some monotonous and lackadaisical follow-up that can threaten our very existence.”
The ZVC said that it will not allow any work force to enter into the village jurisdiction without producing medical fitness report and written assurance given by the concerned district authority guaranteeing the safety of the village people.
It also demanded that the authority should take all responsibility in the event of any eventuality arising out of the issue.
“The workers should also pre-inform the village authority prior to their entry into the village,” it said. “If they fail to do so, the village authority will take its own drastic course of action,” the ZVC warned.
It meanwhile sought the immediate intervention of the concerned authority “before the matter gets out of hand.”
