ZLSU backs NFHRCC’s 30-day deadline to State Govt

Peren, September 2 (MExN): The Zeliang Students’ Union, Nagaland (ZLSU) today stated that it fully support the 30-day deadline served by NFHRCC  to the State Government on Foothills road issue.

The Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC), on August 7, had given 30-day deadline to the State Government to respond positively on its request to make the Foothills road ‘pliable.’

Extending its support, the ZLSU asserted that the union was ready for any call by the NFHRCC in the event of failure by the State Government to fulfill the committee's demand.

In a press statement issued by its President Kingsalt Hegwang, the ZLSU further expressed hope and confident that State Government will take up the issue as a “priority and complete the project without further delay.”

It also appreciated the NFHRCC for monitoring the construction of Nagaland Foothill Road from Tizit to Khelma since 2014.

Meanwhile, according the NFHRCC, the State Government in a letter on September 1 has requested the Committee to hold back its proposed agitation upon the expiry of deadline as “both the Chief Minister and the Dy CM (Minister, Home R&B (PWD) were out of station on Official duty at New Delhi.”A NFHRCC is scheduled on September 3 to discuss future course of action.
