Dimapur, September 29 (MExN): The Zeliang Students’ Union Nagaland (ZLSU) has issued a condemnation following what it described as a “disgraceful and criminal act” committed against a minor student who is a bona fide member of the Union and currently studying in Class 9.
In a statement, the Union said the incident was “not just a case of teasing or misbehaviour” but a “deliberate, repeated, and shameful violation of the girl's dignity and safety.” It added that the accused had “not only outraged the modesty of a minor but has subjected her to constant harassment, causing immense trauma.” The Union called the act “sickening, unacceptable, and cannot be tolerated under any circumstance,” and condemned it “in the strongest possible terms.”
The Union demanded that police authorities “act without delay” and that the accused be “immediately arrested and charged under all applicable sections of the law, including provisions under the POCSO Act and BNS(IPC).” It insisted that “justice must be swift, and it must be absolute.”
The statement also urged the Government of Nagaland and the District Administration to strictly enforce the Inner Line Permit (ILP) regulations. “ILP is not a mere formality, it is a protective mechanism for our Naga people, and we demand its full implementation to prevent such dangerous elements from entering and violating the peace of our land,” it said.
