ZPO Kohima clarifies stand on delimitation

Dimapur, June 24 (MExN): The Zeliang People’s Organisation (ZPO) Kohima has denied its involvement in the representation of 11 tribes addressed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for deferment of delimitation exercise in Nagaland.

In its press statement on June 23, the ZPO Kohima clarified that its President Visa Meru and General Secretary Joshua Newmai, attended the meeting as delegated by the ZPO Nagaland. According to the statement, in the meeting, they stated that “Zeliang people are all out for delimitation since solution and delimitation are totally of different concerns and that such an agenda for stalling delimitation is not even required to be deliberated or taken beyond the floor of the house.”

ZPO Kohima stated that the allegation on its president Visa Meru as signatory of that representation is totally misconstrued.

“When the ZPO Kohima is not even privy to whatever is the content of that representation, in what way could he be alleged as a signatory except on unfounded grounds?” it questioned, adding that if the signature appended as attendance on a blank paper is compromised, it is beyond their knowledge.

Clarifying its stand on the issue of delimitation in Nagaland, the ZPO Kohima said that it stands by the resolution made in the interest of the whole Zeliang tribe of Nagaland guided by the principles of the ZPO Nagaland.
