
DIMAPUR, MAY 7 (MExN): The Zeme Students’ Union (ZSUN) has reached out to 6 ‘unrecognised’ villages in the Kebai-Khelma area of Peren district by providing these villages with essential items like rice, salt, potatoes, tomatoes and carrots.
A press release from the ZSUN informed that the relief work was made possible through crowd-funding through 43 individuals. The union received a total of Rs 48,500 from the donation drive.
The villages covered by the relief drive included Gopibung, Beisumlwa, Beisumpui Jangdi, Nkio Lodi, Zeme Khelma and Beisumpuiloa, totaling 173 households.
The union meanwhile appealed to the government to consider the unrecognized villages when it comes to relief and assistance at this time of crisis.
The ZSUN also extended thanks to the 36 Assam Riffles Jalukie Battalion who accompanied the union and transported the commodities to the villages. The union acknowledged Herangia and Agua Dailiam for providing vehicles for the purpose, and to all persons who contributed for the relief work.
