ZSUN stands by June 10 ultimatum

DIMAPUR, JUNE 29 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Students' Union Nagaland (ZSUN) has condemned the “negligence and ignorance of the state government towards the genuine plight of the people of Peren district.” 


“The inattention posture of the government have enough provoked the anxiety of the people and shall not remain a mute spectator anymore,” cautioned a press release from the ZSUN President, Dithuibo Newmai and General Secretary, Adona Herie.


The ZSUN affirmed its earlier ultimatum submitted to the Chief Minister on June 10, 2020 and said that it would “fight for justice until the government give us our demand and legitimization of our right to equality.”


The union informed that it has suspended its proposed series of rallies, keeping in view the genuine appeal of the public and organizations. However, the government still decides to remain a silent spectator, it lamented.


The ZSUN appealed to all the concern citizens, civil societies and organizations of Peren district to be “prepared for worse if our peaceful protest is taken otherwise.” 


“We shall call for the third phase of agitation as the state government failed to respond our charter of demand. In the event of any untoward incident arising out of the protest, the government shall be held fully responsible,” it added.
