Dimapur, March 26 (MExN): The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has extended greetings to all Zeliangrongpui citizens on the occasion of Solidarity Day, which falls on April 1 every year.
On April 1, 1934, many Zeliangrongpui elders, leaders, and prophets (Amuh) took part in the historic traditional ritual oath of allegiance ceremony known as Nsuktoibe/Chukthoibo/Chuksumei in Tamenglong, stated in a press release received here by the ZUF.
“All the attending leaders strongly resolved to forgive and forget all internal feuds among brothers in the past and to sacrifice a pure black dog and a cat without stripes,” it said.
The cleansing rite sacrament was presided over by priest Tadangbe Newme of Magulong and his aides, Kazeidai Gonmei of Soubunglong, Lunglinbou Newmai of Chakha, and Abungson Bariam of Houchong village, it added.
This historic solemnisation with a full traditional ritual ceremony was performed on behalf of every single soul of Zeliangrongpui, the ZUF said, while noting that every Zeliangrongpui should strictly adhere to the oath of Nsuktoibe/Chukthoibo/Chuksumei performed by the elders as per customary rite.
“Whoever violates or abolishes the commandments... will receive the curse,” it added.
To this end, the ZUF appealed to every household of Zeliangrongpui to offer special prayers on April 1 before going out of the door as a sign of respect and remembrance for the 1934 historic purification day. It also urged all Zeliangrongpui people to unite and strive hard to promote the bond of love, unity, and brotherhood to attain “our long-cherished goal and establish our long-cherished goal and establish a rightful place for ourselves.”
