
Mokokchung | January 7 : In the first match of the second day of the on going MDCA Inter club cricket tournament at Mokokchung, played at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Zünga Medem registered an empathic win over Suzerian Seniors, while Euphemia snatched victory from their opponents Ace in the second match of the day played at the same venue. In the first match, Suzerain Seniors elected to bat first after winning the toss but could manage to score just 86 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Zünga Medem on reply chased down their target score in just 10.3 overs for the loss of 3 wickets. Man of the Match, and opening batsman for Zünga Medem, Imliakum punished the Suzerain bowlers as he scored a quick fire 44 runs that included nine 4s.
Later in the second match, Ace scored 101 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 9 wickets. Euphemia in reply scored 104 for the loss of 2 wickets in the 17th over. Euphemia won the match by 8 wickets and Tenjemsoba was declared the Man of the Match for scoring 34 runs, not out. Meanwhile, in the other two matches played here today at the Assam Rifles Ground, Musafir beat Subansiri XI by a margin of 80 runs, while Sovran beat Sylvan by just about the same margin. In the first match, Musafir put on a target of 154 runs in 20 overs, losing 9 wickets during the course. Subansiri XI, the Assam Rifles’ cricket team, despite playing in their own turf were bundled out for a paltry 73 in 15.2 overs. Musafir beat the para-military team by 80 runs, and Tingnei of Musafir was declared MoM for his 36 runs and a haul of 2 wickets. In the second match, strong title contenders Sovran registered a score of 187 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 7 wickets, as they punished the middling Sylvan bowlers by whack them to all over the park. In reply, Sylvan lost their wickets at regular intervals while trying to chase down a huge target and were eventually bowled out for 108 runs. Yongzamong of Sovran was declared MoM for his knock of 27 runs and a 3 wicket haul.
