Zunheboto ATMA Management Committee meeting held

Zunheboto, December 9 (MExN): Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Zunheboto conducted ATMA Management Committee (AMC) meeting on December 7 at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nagaland University, Lumami campus.   Prof. AK Singh, Vice-Chancellor in-charge, who was the special guest, focused on the growth of sustainable agriculture through organic farming. He remarked that India will become a backbone of international policy only when its agricultural production will be able to feed every citizen of the country. In this regard, he said, North Eastern states in particular have the highest potential. He proposed a bottom to top approach planning where the farmers’ indigenous technical knowledge should synergize with the modern technology, informed a press release. Singh further advised the young minds of ATMA to transfer their knowledge to the farmers and not hold within themselves.  

Prof. NS Jamir, Registrar in-charge, Nagaland University delivered a short speech applauding the ATMA, KVK and ICAR for their intervention in enhancing agriculture in the State. He challenged to enhance the marketing policy by exporting more and importing less, the release said.  

K Khekiho Shohe, Project Director, ATMA Zunheboto delivered the keynote address. He proposed better coordination between all agri & allied departments and sharing of knowledge about each other’s programmes/schemes so as to work in convergence through the ATMA platform.  

During the meeting, the first edition of ‘The Farmers’ Dream’ (a newsletter of ATMA Zunheboto) was released by the special guest. The newsletter highlights the various activities undertaken by ATMA Zunheboto including the celebration of Zunheboto Town Platinum Jubilee cum Ahuna festival from November 13-14, 2017, which was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Nagaland, TR Zeliang, it was informed.  

At the meeting, PowerPoint presentations were presented by all agri & allied departments as well as the eight blocks of ATMA Zunheboto. Altogether 35 officials from agri & allied departments, KVK scientists and the ATMA Zunheboto staff attended the meeting, which was chaired by Tokato Zhimomi, Deputy Project Director, ATMA Zunheboto.
