The road leading to the District Court Complex in Zunheboto, situated at South point Colony above Sheyipu Village, continues to remain in a severely dilapidated condition, four years after the court was inaugurated. Inaugurated in March 26, 2022 by Justice Songkhupchung Serto, Judge Gauhati High Court and Portfolio Judge of Zunheboto District, the District Court has since been operating under difficult circumstances due to the lack of a proper approach road.
The stretch of road from MS Paramount Gas Agency to the District Court, a vital link not only for court staff and legal professionals but also for local residents, has become nearly unmotorable especially during the monsoon season. The persistent rains have further worsened the condition, turning the road into a muddy, potholed mess, posing serious risks to vehicles and pedestrians alike.
"It’s been four years since the court started functioning here, but the road condition has only gone from bad to worse," said a resident of the Colony. "It's not just an inconvenience, this is a safety issue. Elderly people, school children, even court officials struggle to access the area, especially during rains."

Court staff also voiced their concern. "We have to walk through the mud every day to reach the court. It's very disheartening. How can justice be delivered when even the path to justice is so difficult?" remarked an official on condition of anonymity.
The area around the court is home to several families and is gradually developing into a residential hub. However, the poor infrastructure remains a major hurdle for the locality’s growth.
"We understand that there are budgetary and administrative challenges, but four years is a long time for a road to remain neglected," remarked a concerned citizen. "We urge the state government and the district administration to prioritize this issue. If a District Court road is left in this condition, what message does it send about the value of our legal system?"

As the monsoon continues, the road situation is expected to deteriorate further unless immediate repair work is undertaken. Many fear that inaction could lead to accidents, disrupt judicial proceedings, and contribute to a general sense of apathy toward infrastructure development in the district.
