Zunheboto DPDB focuses on infrastructure, healthcare and environmental issues

The Zunheboto District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting was held at DC conference hall on March 13for planning and overseeing the development activities at the district level. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali, IAS. 

The ADC Atoizu, Nukutulu Venuh through the EAC Atoizu, Dr Samuel Akho Konyak resubmitted proposal for the construction EAC quarter at Atoizu. Supplementing to the proposal, EAC highlighted the board members of the deplorable conditions of other government buildings as well, which cannot be utilised for sorts of usages, and the hardship faced by the officers posted, a DIPR report stated. 
Highlighting the issue, EAC Atoizu Dr Samuel Akho Konyak said, “Government quarter is a crucial necessity for our government officers, ensuring that we have a stable and secure place to live while we carried out our duties with dedication.” However, he said, ‘the available government quarter cannot keep up with the growing workforce. And therefore, to address this issue, we must work together to find sustainable solutions.’ He also urged all the stakeholders to take this matter seriously and collaborate towards long-term solutions.
The DPDB members approved the proposal with priority for further procedures, the DIPR report added. 
EAC Zunheboto Chinglem Konyak elaborated the various constraints face by Head of Department (HODs), the primary constraints being lack of adequate resources - finance, human and infrastructure.
Konyak said that the Government provides various schemes including Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS), and it benefits in improving health-care access for the communities. He highlighted that CMHIS is a vital initiative designed to provide affordable and accessible health-care to every individual, especially those who are residing at rural areas. CMHIS is a crucial step towards universal health coverage, ensuring that no one is left behind when it comes to health-care. 
“Lets us continue to support and expand this initiative for the well being of our people and make our district into a full-fledged health-care coverage setting up an example for the future generations,” he added. 
Speaking on CMHIS registration process, Dr Antoly Dy, CMO Zunheboto said that beneficiaries face challenge due to lack of proper documents. This issue prevents them from registering and benefiting from health-care service, she reiterated and urged to advocate for inclusive policies that makes registration easier and more accessible for everyone.
Participating in the programme, Obed Bohovi Swu, District Forest Officer (DFO) Zunheboto stressed on the need to preserve and protect wildlife, and reduce hunting and excessive fishing to protect environment. He said that wildlife and marine plays a crucial role in maintaining the balance of nature. Animals help to keep ecosystem stable while fish contribute to food security and livelihoods. However illegal hunting and overfishing causes serious harm.  “If we continue fishing and hunting irresponsibly, we risk losing biodiversity, damaging ecosystem and affecting our own survival,” Swu cautioned. 
He further urged that Government and communities must work together hand in hand to enforce the law, create awareness.
