Zunheboto, October 6 (MExN): The District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting of Zunheboto was held at the DC’s Conference Hall on October 6 under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman, DPDB, Dharam Raj, IAS.

The board reviewed action taken on decisions and issues raised during the previous meeting. The Deputy Commissioner informed the members that, following the suggestion of the DPDB chairman, the Town Hall had been handed over to Zunheboto Government Higher Secondary School for its use. The meeting also discussed the shortage of graduate teachers at the school.

Dharam Raj stressed that Heads of Offices should remain stationed at their respective places of posting and attend to their official responsibilities "irrespective of whether a DPDB meeting is scheduled." The board also discussed a proposal to establish a library in memory of late L. Sailo, former EAC, Satakha. EAC Satakha Imtinungla Longkumer presented a brief account of his life and service.

Late L. Sailo, born on October 15, 1932, was the son of the chief of Lailak village in present-day Mizoram. He served as EAC, Satakha, during the 1970s and was killed in an underground ambush along with the then Deputy Commissioner, late K.K. Gupta, IAS, on February 14, 1974, near Shoipu village while on official duty.

The District Employment Office and Government ITI, Zunheboto, also made presentations on employment opportunities and skill development initiatives. The presentation on behalf of Government ITI was delivered by Instructor Er. Bendangwati.
