Zunheboto: Orgs call for adherence to face mask rules

ZUNHEBOTO, JULY 19 (MExN): Several organizations under Project Colony West—Project West Council, Project West COVID-19 Task Force, STH Project Colony and Project Colony Youth Forum have submitted a representation to the Zunheboto Deputy Commissioner requesting action to ensure that the people of Zunheboto town adhere to wearing of masks.

The representation said that “the public of Zunheboto town as well the commuters of the town are very casual about the safety measures especially wearing of mask. The authority along with the police and some organizations has been initiating various measures for this purpose yet, no strict adherence was observed.”

It informed that the Project West Council COVID-19 Task Force assisted by various organisations of the colony, carried out a week long mask awareness drive from July 10 to 17, where 5000 face masks were been distributed free of cost on the first day.

“Noticeable effect is noticed following this campaign, however, we cannot continue on volunteer basis as every person has his/her own livelihood to take care of. Meanwhile, this trend, if continued should be able to educate our people to some extent on the importance of wearing masks as well as other protocols for public safety,” the representation stated.

It therefore asked the DC to take taction towards moves to make the public adhere to face mask rules.
