
Zunheboto, April 15 (MExN): The Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services under the Village Piggery Development Scheme on Village Adoption, Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) 2017-18 distributed pre-mixed feeds to a total number of 415 selected piggery farmer beneficiaries at Litsami on March 21, Asukhomi on April 11, and Asukhoto on April 12 in Zunheboto district.
Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) Zunheboto in a press release informed that male piglets for breeding purpose, CGI sheets for construction of sheds, and farm equipments were also distributed to 12 beneficiaries of the three villages.
A programme was organised by the CVO Zunheboto with Tsiatsusie, EAC Atoizu and Ajit Ranjan (IAS), SDO (C) Zunheboto as the guests of honour.
The guests of honour advised the farmer beneficiaries to feed their animals as per scientific advice given by the department. Considering that meat consumption is the most common and important component of food habits of the people, they stated that farmers can capitalize in the area of meat production.
The beneficiaries were encouraged stating with their hard work, sincerity and dedication, their produce will not only be sufficient to uplift their family economy, but can be exported to neighbouring states which will also generate employment. In that way, the issue of unemployment will be tackled, it was added.
Ajit Ranjan, SDO (C) Zunheboto pointed out that with favourable vegetation and ample possession of land resources there is sufficient capacity to adopt farming activities. Formation of Self Help Group (SHG) or co-operative societies, organization and linkages with certain financing agencies will enhance production and provide easy access to penetrate the market, he added. Ranjan also assured to extend help wherever the administration’s participation is required in their ventures.
The village councils, on behalf of the farmers and the village, expressed gratitude to the department and officials involved for providing the aid and hoped for more such delivery of goods to the people of the area in days to come.
