Zunheboto, October 12 (MExN): The District Health Society, Zunheboto observed World Sight Day 2023 under the theme ‘love your eyes at work’ at the Superintendent Police Office, Zunheboto on October 12.

Dr Wobenthung Tsopoe, Senior Eye Specialist and Yanger, Assistant Ophthalmic from District Hospital Zunheboto initiated the programme under the National Programme for Control of Blindness & Visual Impairment (NPCB&VI). A press release stated that the team provided free eye check up, medicines and spectacles to the Police personnel.

Dr Tsopoe stated that the event was observed with an aim to encourage employers to make eye health initiatives as standard practice and promote eye health habits that will benefit the wellbeing, safety and productivity of the employees. 

He stated the ‘Love your eyes at work’ campaign is to create awareness to the individuals to take care of their own eye health and to focus the attention of the employees/workers to get their eyes tested and to take measures to prevent and control eye ailments, creating awareness about the importance of eye testing.

In commemoration of the event, over 50 eye screening of police personnel were conducted.
