Zunheboto: Telecom service providers served ultimatum over poor services

Zunheboto, August 17 (MExN): Taking exception to the poor network coverage and slow internet connection in Zunheboto district, the Zunheboto Range Students’ Union (ZRSU) has issued a 15-day ultimatum to telecom service providers seeking quality network and uninterrupted internet services.

On Tuesday, the ZRSU shot off letters to the regional heads of Vodafone Idea Limited, Bharti Airtel Limited, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, and the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) censuring their “callous attitude” even after several complaints and appeals regarding poor services in the district were made.

It said that the COVID-19 pandemic has created a lot of challenges in the education system, leaving e-learning as the only option for students. “However, due to poor network coverage students are suffering a major setback in their academic performance and are on the receiving end,” it underscored.

Stating that telecom service providers operating in the district have not taken any measures to address this issue, the ZRSU informed that the issue was deliberated during its 7th executive meeting. It expressed strong resentment against the service providers for not paying heed to the plight of the student community and depriving the general populace of services they have paid for.

The callous attitude of the telecom service has left the students community with no other option than to serve a 15-day ultimatum to provide quality network and uninterrupted internet service. “Failure on the part of telecom service providers in securing stable network connectivity will attract its own course of actions,” it added.
