The Zunheboto Town Council (ZTC) carried out maintenance work on the one-way road at Project Colony, which had long been in a deplorable condition.

Deputy Chairperson of ZTC, Vihoto Zhimo, urged the concerned departments to provide greater assistance and ensure the equal distribution of development funds across all districts.

Atsato Yeptho, ZTC Councillor, informed the public that no government funds were allocated for the ongoing repair and maintenance works. “All the work is being carried out through the limited revenue generated by the Town Council itself,” he said, adding that no financial support had been provided for road repairs or the restoration of the drainage system.

The repair initiative at Project Colony (East and West) is part of a broader effort by the ZTC to address public grievances. “Zunheboto Town Council is always ready to serve the people. This project is being undertaken not for personal or individual gain, but for the welfare of the public and society at large,” said a ZTC official.

Citizens were also urged to cooperate with the Council in maintaining and beautifying the town. “These works were ideally meant to be carried out by the Urban Development and Disaster Management departments, but no substantial development has been seen. The burden has now fallen entirely on the ZTC,” the official added.

The ZTC appealed to the public to raise their voices and call upon the concerned departments for proper allocation of funds. “Though we have an Urban Development department, no financial assistance has been received so far. Our internal revenue is minimal and insufficient to cover all the town’s maintenance needs,” the official stated.

He further emphasized that the responsibilities of road and drainage repair should rightfully be managed by the Urban Development department. “Public support is crucial. We must also apprise the authorities about damages caused by natural calamities. The ZTC remains committed to addressing public concerns, but without adequate funding, maintenance work becomes increasingly difficult. We urge the citizens to cooperate and join hands in seeking proper support from the relevant authorities,” he said.

ZTC Councillor Kakheho Zhimo expressed gratitude to the Mechanical and Disaster Management departments for providing machinery and support for the ongoing work. He also appealed to the people of Zunheboto to continue supporting the Town Council in its efforts for the greater good of the community.
