Forerunners 4th NAP, Barak FC secure semi finals berth

Forerunners 4th NAP Thizama and Barak FC Peren today found semi finals berth after defeating their respective opponents in the quarter final matches of the ongoing 18th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy 2017 here at Kohima Local Ground.  

In the 3rd quarter finals, Forerunners 4th NAP defeated Khyouchi FC Manipur 5-2 to enter into semi finals.  

Vekhruto Resu opened the scoring for Forerunners in the 4th minute, however, Khyouchi FC fought back and scored a goal through Ramkhon in the 35th minute, and went on to score his second goal in the 38th minute.  

A few minutes later Purakum of Forerunners leveled the score in the 41st minute to make it 2-2 in the first half.  

Kezhose Mathew scored twice in the second half for Forerunners FC in the 56th and 71st minute respectively to give the deserving lead while Purakum added his second goal in the 85th minute.  

Yellow yard cautioned to Kichie of Forerunners in the 70th minute.  

In the last quarter final match, Barak FC downed Lamphel FC Manipur 5-0 and found semi finals berth.  

Kivi Jimo Sumi scored two goals for Barak FC in the 13th and 57th minute.  

Khwetelhi Thopi, Elminhao Kilong and Rhitso Mero contributed a goal each for Barak FC in the 59th, 62nd and 80th minute respectively.  

Yellow card cautioned to Raja of Lamphel FC (13th minute), Tingyek Konyak of Barak FC 18th minute), Keneisedelie of Barak FC (27th minute), Francis O of Lamphel FC (30th minute), Davikho of Barak FC (37th minute), Khwetelhi Thopi of Barak FC (44th minute) and Dhamen of Lamphel FC (55th minute).  

Red card shown to Francis O of Lamphel FC in the 38th minute and Makulung of Lamphel FC Manipur in the 90+minute.  

Barak FC with today’s win will take on Forerunners 4th NAP Thizama in the 2nd semi finals on October 19. Earlier, controversy arose today in the last quarter finals match between Barak FC, Peren and Lamphel FC Manipur and the match was halted for almost an hour.  

At the ending part of the first haft, Davikho of Barak FC charged a player of Lamphel FC for tripping Barak FC player while chasing the ball. However, since the referee only issued a yellow card against the later for the unsporting behavior, Francis O of Lamphel FC was sent off the field with a red card for arguing over the decision of the referee. Subsequently, Lamphel FC protested and the match was halted with the team not accepting the decision for almost an hour.  

The matter was resolved with the interference of the Technical Committee of the Tournament and Match Commissioner while the match referee was replaced and the match resumed.  

Meanwhile, the 2nd edition of football exhibition match between Seniors FC-Angami Students’ Union (ASU) and Kohima Bar Association (KBA) will take place on October 18 at 10:00 AM at Kohima Local Ground.
