Nagaland Police, Tangkhul SU enter semi finals

Nagaland Police (DGP Team Red) and Tangkhul Students’ Union entered semi-finals after winning their respective quarter-final matches at the ongoing 18th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy 2017 here at the Kohima Local Ground. The wins set up the two teams for a semi-finals encounter on October 18.

 

Nagaland Police (DGP Team Red) comfortably edged past strong contenders Esii United FC Manipur with a 2-1; both goals coming in the first half. Kekhrieletuo opened the account for Nagaland Police in the 23rd minute, while Lipoksashi score the second in the 39th minute.

 

Esii United made amends with a 79th minute goal through Prokreni. The team’s attempt at a turnaround faced a setback after Benjo was sent-off. Kapani was also given a yellow card cautioning. Nagaland Police’s Atun and Sanyam were yellow-carded too.

 

In the other QF match, Tangkhul Students’ Union blanked Tiema-Khe Kidima 3-0 for a place in the semis. Rinchanso Khongreiwo struck first in the 6th minute followed by the second through Thotthanmung in the 20th. The lead was further extended towards the end by Reisangmi Vashum in the 85th minute.

 

Nagaland Contractors & Suppliers Union (NCSU) president Pele Khezhie acted as match patron.
