31st Nagaland Taekwondo C’ship begins

Kohima, July 26 (MExN): Dimapur District Taekwondo Association is leading the overall medal tally in the ongoing three-day 31st Nagaland State Taekwondo Championship organized by Nagaland Taekwondo Association (NTA) at Indira Gandhi Stadium Kohima.  

Till the latest updated results as of 6:00pm today, Dimapur DTA with 13 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze is on top among the 10 teams, which include Kohima, Dimapur, Peren, Mokokchung, Kiphire, Longleng, Mon and Tuensang District Taekwondo Associations and one each from Directorate of Youth Resources & Sports and Police teams.  

The championship commenced today with NTA President Pele Khezhie officially declaring it open. Exhorting the 118 fighters from ten teams and around 60 officials and referees conducting the bouts, Khezhie expressed hope that the competitors would display discipline and also uphold the sporting spirit throughout the tourney. He also challenged them to take up professionalism with dedication and determination in order to achieve greater heights even beyond the state level. The NTA President also urged upon the referees to conduct the bouts without biasness and favouritism.  

NTA Vice President Visabiu Peseyie chaired the inaugural function while Associate Pastor of Khedi Baptist Chruch, Ruokuovilie Sachü pronounced invocation.
